Our Mission

To assist veterans and their families in obtaining all of the county, state, and federal benefits to which they are entitled as a result of their service to our nation.

Our Vision

The Mason County Department of Veteran Affairs office will be:

  • The central entry point for area veterans seeking any federal and state VA-related benefits or assistance

  • The central clearinghouse for referring veterans to other local community resources for support and assistance

Our Values

To treat every veteran and family member with respect and dignity

  • To work tirelessly on behalf of each veteran or family member seeking our assistance

  • To know the limits of our capabilities and, if reached, refer the veteran or family member to a more appropriate resource that will meet their need

Every month, Mason County’s Veterans Service Officer (VSO) works with local Vets to help them get the VA benefits they have earned. Issues such as Survivor’s Pensions, Service Connected Compensation and Healthcare Enrollment Applications are marshalled through the VA system. This effort by our VSO has been invaluable to many local Vets and their families.
